Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group features Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
